Aperture 3 v. Lightroom 3
I’ve had Lightroom 2 for a couple of years and have enjoyed the experience. With the release of Aperture 3 I’ve been curious about the program since the update. Any one have any ideas whether or not it’s worth it to switch?
I’ve been trying to find more reviews from people with experience with both programs. All I find is reviews like this one from Photography for Real...

Usually avoid politically sensitive material, but I thought this was worthwhile to have this posted. Particularly in light of the recent release of documents regarding torture and the eventual creation of an independent judiciary of inquiry.

Mark Fidrych's win over the Yankees →
This is one of the more famous games Mark Fidrych ever pitched while with the Detroit Tigers. This win over the Yankees was his seventh victory in a row that year.
Just talked to my dad about this game tonight. He said it was always pretty interesting catching any of his games during the brief time he was pitching with the Tigers. He was definitely a character. He will be missed.
Herman Melville on Abraham Lincoln's assination
Good Friday was the day
Of the prodigy and crime,
When they killed him in his pity,
When they killed him in his prime
Of clemency and calm—
When, with yearning he was filled
To redeem the evil-willed,
And, though conqueror, be kind;
But they killed him in his kindness,
In their madness and their blindness,
And they killed him from behind.
There is sobbing of the strong,
And a...
Listened to this and then watched this over my lunch hour. Inventive and creative view of Rome’s architecture vis-a-vis an artist’s illustrations.

Money Trail
I had posted this on Twitter before, but thought the image was an easier way to demonstrate the flow of money from Wall Street to the U.S. Capitol

Keep family at a distance
I love my family, but I’m glad they don’t live within the nearest zip code. Honestly, I find them awfully tiring people to contend with all the time. Both my fiancee and I appreciate what our family have done for us, but we are ready to start our own family.

Webkit is awfully cool →
I’m falling in love with Webkit. Especially with the crazy things they are doing with CSS. It’s just badass.
Douglas Crockford talking about JavaScript.
Douglas Crockford and JavaScript
Whenever I watch Douglas Crockford’s videos or read his thoughts on JavaScript it makes me want to spend more time learning about the language. Although it frustrates me immensely, I’m still quite excited about what can be done with it.
Safety is everyone's responsibility
That’s the crap I hear every day on the bus and metro going to and from various places around the metro area. It’s hard for me to have any confidence in the security and law enforcement officials to have the knowledge, let alone the ability, to protect us from an attack whether from local or foreign born individuals angry at the politics of our government.

The Dirtbombs
Went and listened to The Dirtbombs at the Rock and Roll Hotel this past Saturday. They played with terrific energy and enthusiasm. It was impossible not to start tapping one’s foot or dancing in rhythm to the beat of the drums. The first opening act left a little to be desired, but the second one, Kelly Stoltz, was very musical.

At least someone's winning in Detroit →
I love my Tigers’, but this lack of offense and stable pitching wears thin. Well, the season is long and the night is late. The Royals will be a legitimate team this year, but the White Sox stink so that makes today’s loss all that more painful.

Multi-touch Macs?
I’m always incredulous of stories released on April Fool’s day. Even if there’s some evidence to proof the reliability of the information being provided. This story on multi-touch Macs from Apple on the AppleInsider is no different.

Body aches
It’s always an interesting thing in the debate whether or not to go to work while feeling under the weather. Although I feel ill, there’s always the midwesterner in me who thinks it’s better to be at work and not be seen as a slacker. The debate rages on…

Erlang,Yaws and RESTful Services
Ran across an article on InfoQ as it touches on the programming language, Erlang, and a web server built with the language, Yaws. The gist of the article is to look at using them for a RESTful application. Although I’m familiar with REST via experimentation with Ruby on Rails, it still might be worth the effort to explore it with these as well. Possibly even with a relatively new framework...

Daily dose of Mr.Tony
Something’s missing in my life when I told get my daily dose of Mr. Tony’s radio show. I’ve listened to NPR and other forms of talk radio since I was a child, but there’s something about his show that’s really entertaining. Although he tends to talk too much about American Idol, it’s still worth a listen.

Rails Core moving to Git
Just ran across this nugget of information that the Roles Core team is moving for source control to Git and to Lighthouse for issue tracking. Nice. I’ve been using Git on the last couple of projects and find it to be really easy and enjoyable to use when compared to SVN.
